Hospitality that strengthens an artisan campus.
With the first phase of Azizi Life’s women’s empowerment center complete, the guesthouse extends the campus’s ability to welcome the people who support and learn from its artisan network. The plan provides simple visitor and volunteer accommodation alongside offices, meeting areas, a lounge, kitchen support, and outdoor sitting spaces. It is integrated with the working campus rather than treated as a separate hotel: guests remain close to workshops, product spaces, and the daily life of the organization. The revised site plan also includes accessible rooms, ramps, and rainwater storage, making inclusion and resource management part of the practical layout.
Designed as a second phase, the project is intended to deepen exchange without displacing the center’s primary purpose—supporting Rwandan artisans and the fair-trade relationships around their work. Journeyman International helped organize the addition so hospitality can strengthen, rather than overshadow, the existing program. The guesthouse remains a proposal in the archive, conceived as useful infrastructure for longer, more reciprocal partnerships.
