The story
A school that reuses material and repairs its ground.
India Christian Ministries’ Covenant International School and Community Hall was designed for more than 300 students in rural Andhra Pradesh, including residential space for 160 children and a multipurpose hall shared with surrounding villages. The French design team framed the work as “ultra-local resilience,” studying how reused materials and soil restoration could shape construction rather than treating waste and degraded ground as separate problems. Classrooms, housing, and community space are organized to reconnect the campus with its landscape and changing settlement context.
Climate, shade, water, and locally realistic building methods guide the proposal, while the hall allows the investment to serve village gatherings beyond school hours. Developed through Journeyman International, India Christian Ministries, and three architecture schools, the project remains a design proposal; construction is not verified. Its contribution is the link between education and material stewardship: a campus can expand learning while demonstrating how building resources are recovered, land is valued, and new infrastructure belongs to a wider community.
