Kisangwa Child and Youth Development Center needed a larger shared space without creating a building useful for only occasional events. Joanna Waliuba and Joanna Nsenga’s proposal makes the social hall double as a skills-training center, supporting vocational instruction, caregiver meetings, youth programs, church activities, and community gatherings. Flexible floor area and clear support spaces allow the room to change arrangement, while environmental and site analysis guide shade, ventilation, access, and outdoor spillover.

The hall is planned as an addition to an existing network of care led by Kisangwa Full Gospel Church with Compassion International, so its success depends on fitting daily programs rather than imposing a new institution. Journeyman International supported the research and final design, but the 2022 booklet documents a proposal, not confirmed construction. Its architectural value lies in versatility with purpose: one durable room can strengthen family support, practical learning, and collective life when each use is anticipated in the plan.
