A prefabricated center for rebuilding shared life after conflict.
In Mutatá, PASO Colombia works with people navigating reintegration after armed conflict and displacement. The community-center proposal uses Bay-Build’s prefabricated framing system to create adaptable housing and public facilities that can be assembled efficiently and adjusted as needs change. Modularity is useful here not as an aesthetic but as a way to phase construction, repeat components, and support local agricultural development without waiting for one large finished complex. Shared rooms provide space for meetings, training, enterprise, and coordination, while residential elements support the stability required for people to rebuild daily routines.
Journeyman International’s role was to help the system respond to this specific community rather than drop a universal kit onto the land. The archive does not verify construction, so the project remains a proposal. Its trauma-informed value lies in agency and adaptability: spaces can evolve with locally led programs, and reintegration is supported through common work and belonging rather than through architecture that labels residents by their past.
