My Life Matters Center

The Rwanda Down Syndrome Organization conceived My Life Matters as a place where people with Down syndrome—from infancy through adulthood—and their families can find information, therapy, training, and community without navigating disconnected services. Physiotherapy, occupational, play, and speech therapy support early intervention; vocational rooms and practical learning help youth explore employment or self-employment; meeting and advocacy spaces strengthen the organization’s public work. Accessibility, sensory comfort, clear circulation, and welcoming family areas are therefore fundamental to the architecture.

Journeyman International’s role is to translate RDSO’s lived knowledge into a coherent center that supports medical, social, academic, and economic inclusion without treating people as patients alone. The project submission and archive document planning, not a completed facility. Its central idea is continuity: one adaptable place can support changing needs across a lifetime while giving people with Down syndrome and their families a visible, participant-led home within the broader community.
