The story
A permanent school for a village that built its own beginning.
Arikanki Village had no formal school when Project MAR-X helped establish an alternative learning space in 2019. Demand quickly exceeded what that temporary setting could hold, and children still faced long travel or pressure to return to farm labor. The new-classroom proposal turns a community-created beginning into more dependable educational infrastructure. Simple, repeatable rooms, shade, ventilation, sanitation, and protected outdoor learning are planned for phased construction and local maintenance.
The school is intended to bring learning closer to home without dismissing the agricultural life of the village; its schedule and campus need to work within that reality. Journeyman International’s archive contains site information but little readable final design text and does not verify completed construction. Project MAR-X therefore remains a proposal. Its power comes from sequence: residents demonstrated the need and created an initial place to learn, and architecture follows by giving that local commitment safer, larger, and more lasting room.
