A research center where better building methods can be tested by hand.
The Training Center for Construction Techniques was conceived for Morocco’s High Atlas as a bridge between architectural research and rural building practice. Rather than presenting innovation as a finished product, the center would give builders, students, and community partners space to construct prototypes, compare materials, learn safer methods, and adapt ideas to local climate, cost, and craft. Workshops, demonstration walls, open work yards, storage, and simple teaching rooms could make full-scale experimentation visible and repeatable. The initiative’s value lies in respecting vernacular knowledge while creating room to test improvements in seismic resilience, environmental performance, durability, and efficient use of local resources.
The reviewed Drive archive did not contain a final design book, partner brief, or construction record for this entry, so the exact program and built status cannot be confirmed. It should be presented as a research-based proposal. Its most powerful architectural claim is that knowledge becomes more useful when people can build it, examine it, revise it, and carry the method back to their own projects.
